Butter stamp with block of wood attached for handle. Handle is marked with “B”. Mold shaped like a heart with a triangular bottom. Underside has carved pattern. Same type of mold used to do block prints on cloth or sheepskin (skinnfell).

Probably brought from Norway and used to mark butter for selling by the Brye family on their farm in Coon Valley, Wisconsin. Lars Knudsen Brye emigrated from Aal, Hallingdal, Norway in 1849 and settled in Coon Valley, Wisconsin. He married Anna Maria Torstensdatter Unseth who emigrated from Norway in 1850.
