NY 39th Inf Co B. Born 1840 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Civil War: Age 21. Entered the service on 15 May 1861 at New York, New York. Sergeant. Was disabled by a gunshot wound in action in the Battle of the Wilderness in Virginia. Discharged 24 Jun 1864 at New York. Post war: Married. Died at age 36 on 31 Jan 1877 in Yankton County due to being gassed while working in a well. Buried in the Yankton, South Dakota, Cemetery, lot 3, block 599, grave 4.
