WI 15th Inf Co K. Residence: Emmet County, Iowa. Born 6 Jan 1844 at Aal, Hallingdal, Norway, son of Lars Paulson Troo and Guri Syversdatter Sundbrei. He came to the U.S. at the age of 13 in 1857 and lived in Dane County, Wisconsin with his parents and siblings before the family migrated to Emmet County, Iowa in 1860. Civil War: Age 18. Enlisted for three years on 3 Feb 1862 in Emmet County, Iowa, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 11 Feb 1862. Private. Sick in hospital in Iuka, Mississippi, in August 1862. Was on Military Police duty 27 Oct 1862. Wounded at Stone’s River, Tennessee, 31 Dec 1862, and sent to hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Sick in Winchester, Tennessee, in August 1863 and in Loudon, Tennessee, 13 Apr 1864. Mustered out with Company K at Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 10 Feb 1865. Post war: Married Margarette Young Vieux on 15 Dec 1872 at St. Marys, Pottawatomie County, Kansas. Died of consumption 8 Jan 1885 in Emmet County. Buried in Wallingford Lutheran Cemetery in Emmet County.
