WI 15th Inf Co I. Residence: Mt. Morris, Waushara County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway about 1839. Civil War: Age 21. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 9 Dec 1861 at Scandinavia, Wisconsin. Mustered as Sergeant, 20 Dec 1861, at Madison, Wisconsin. Commissioned Second Lieutenant at Mississippi River Island No. 10 on 24 Nov 1862 with rank from 3 Nov 1862. Supervised a unit of laborers in building a battery. Was in special service as post adjutant. Was with the provision transport from Stevenson, Alabama, in October 1863. Served as commander of Company H during part of 1864. Also did special service commanding Companies E, A, F and B. Commander of a stockade at Lookout Creek for a time in 1864. Commanded a squadron of recruits not yet inducted. Mustered out with Company I on 10 Feb 1865 at Chattanooga, Tennessee.
