IA 32nd Inf Co B. Residence: Bristol, Iowa. Born “Herbrand Langeberg Olsen on 27 Jan 1845 in Nes, Hallingdal, Norway to Ole and Gertie (Olson) Langeberg. Came with his widowed mother to America in 1853. Landed at Quebec. Came to Milwaukee and then to Rock County, Wisconsin. His mother remarried and they came to Worth County, Iowa, in 1856. Civil War: Age 18. Farmer. Blue eyes, red hair, light complexion, 5’6”. Enlisted 22 Aug 1862. Mustered 11 Sep 1862 at Dubuque. Private. Discharged from the service for disability 5 Mar 1863 at Fulton, Tennessee. Post war: Married on 7 Apr 1868 to Ragnild Olsdatter Mickelson, who had been born in Hallingdal, Norway.
