WI 3rd Inf Co F. Residence: Strongs Prairie, Adams County, Wisconsin. Born “Anders Olsen Holm” on 5 Mar 1831 in Gjerpen, Telemark, Norway, son of Ole Isaksen Holm and Anne Larsdatter Ballestad. His mother died a year before the family left for America; his father died “a day after” either the landing in New York or the arrival in Wisconsin, of cholera. Anders, his father, new step-mother, Gunhild Olsdatter Nøklegaard, and two siblings, Christen and Anne, came on “Superb”, which sailed from Skien, Telemark, 13 May 1849 and arrived in New York on 2 Jul 1849. They came to the Palmyra settlement in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, and by 1859 were in Strongs Prairie Township, Adams County. Anders married on 24 Mar 1857 Rebecca Pedersdatter Tjersland. Ten children. Civil War: Farmer. Age 34. Married. Blue eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, 5’7”. Drafted, Sixth district of Wisconsin. Enrolled for one year on 26 Sep 1864 at La Crosse, Wisconsin. Mustered there the same day. Private. Discharged from the service 9 Jun 1865. Post war: Became businessman in Adams County. Was Adams County Clerk.
