WI 15th Inf Co D. Residence: New Lisbon, Juneau County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Age 19. Veterinarian. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 28 Oct 1861 at New Lisbon, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 8 Dec 1861. Private. Taken prisoner at Stone’s River, Tennessee, 31 Dec 1862. Paroled at Annapolis, Maryland, and sent to St. Louis, Missouri. Transferred to 68th Indiana on 1 Feb 1864. Came back to the 15th Wisconsin on 2 Apr 1865. Wounded in his right leg at Resaca, Georgia, on 14 May 1864. [Mustered out with Company D on 13 Feb 1865 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. Transferred to WI 24th Inf Co H, on 9 Mar 1865. Mustered out 1 May 1865, expiration of term. Post war: In January 1881, he was granted a pension of $4 a month because of the wound to his right leg. He was at that time living in Strong’s Prairie, Adams County, Wisconsin.
