Married Margaret Tollofsdatter [1840-1886] on 15 Mar 1860, and they sailed for America on 29 Jul 1860. Came to Otisco. Civil War: Age 37. Drafted. Enrolled 16 Aug 1862. Mustered 24 Sep 1862. Private. Served in Indian and Civil wars. Took part in the Sibley expedition against the Sioux. The 10th Regiment moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Took part in the battles of Guntown, Mississippi, and Nashville, Tennessee. Discharged from the service per order 9 Jun 1865. Died 6 Feb 1906. Buried in LeSueur River Lutheran Church cemetery.
