Enlisted for three years on 15 Aug 1862 at Viroqua, Wisconsin. Mustered 14 Sep 1862 at La Crosse, Wisconsin. Private. Has been present with this regiment throughout its entire service. “He was barely 16 years old when he enlisted but for his manly conduct he was promoted to Corporal 1 Feb 1865, and is worthy of the name as a good soldier.
