WI 15th Inf Regimental staff. Residence: Utica, Dane County, Wisconsin. Born 1820 in Skien, Norway. Immigrated to the U.S. in 1856 and went to the Koshkonong settlement in Wisconsin. Civil War: Enlisted for three years on 11 Nov 1861 at Dane County as First Assistant Surgeon. His wife, Alberta (Ulfers) Hanson, served alongside him as a nurse. Served the regiment at Island Number Ten then accompanied them to Iuka, Mississippi, where he had charge of a general hospital. Resigned 20 Oct 1862 after contracting the ague. Post war: Returned to his practice as physician in Koshkonong. Returned to Norway in 1866 and was appointed district physician in Romsdal. Died 1885 in Romsdal, Norway.
