This footed drinking horn exhibits exceptionally elaborate relief carving in the dragon or vine-style. The carved domed lid has a seated nisse that serves as a handle.
The drinking horn was carved by Lars Kinsarvik (1846-1925) who lived and worked in the Hardanger region of Norway. Kinsarvik was a major figure in the revival of dragon style carving that became popular following the excavation of the Viking burial ships in the 1880s and 1890s in Norway.
