TX Hv Arty 1st Reg Co E. CSA. Born “Ole Christian Tellefsen” on 5 Nov 1836 at Kristiansand, Norway. Civil War: Served in Confederate Ordnance department in 1861. Then joined Cook’s Regiment (which became the Texas Heavy Artillery Regiment). Private. Took part in the recapture of Galveston on 1 Jan 1863. In early 1863, he was transferred to the Texas Marine Department, in Galveston, where he worked at refitting and building vessels for Confederate service, among such were the Bayou City, the John Carre, Neptune, Lone Star, Florelda,and Uncle Ben. In the spring of 1865, he was authorized to run the blockade to Cuba, on the steamer Denbigh. From Cuba, he went to Mexico where he stayed until the end of the war.
