Enlisted for three years on 1 Sep 1863 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and mustered there on 9 Sep 1863. Private. On 11 Mar 1864, he was transferred to the 1st Battalion. Transferred to the Veterans Reserve Corps at Lexington, Kentucky, on 27 Apr 1864. Re-transferred from the Veterans Reserve Corps, Co K, which was at Evansville, Indiana, by order of the War Department, dated 25 Oct 1864. He joined Co B on 14 Nov 1864. He was sick in the general hospital at Lexington, Kentucky, in February 1865. Discharged from the service for disability on 18 Apr 1865 at Lexington.
