WI 4th Cav Co E. Born in Norway. Civil War: Age 22. Light hair, light complexion, 5’9”. Enlisted for three years on 29 Apr 1861 at Jefferson, Wisconsin. Mustered 2 Jul 1861 at Racine, Wisconsin. Private. Promoted to Corporal 1 Aug 1862. Promoted to Sergeant 25 Aug 1864. Wounded in his right shoulder on 27 Apr 1863 in the assault on Port Hudson. Post war: Granted a pension of $8 a month because of that shoulder wound.
