WI 21st Inf Co I. Residence: Menasha, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. Born 15 Apr 1822 in Coburg, Norway. Civil War: Married. Age 40. Mechanic. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’6”. Enlisted for three years on 6 Aug 1862 at Menasha. Mustered 5 Sep 1862 at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Private. Was in the battles of Perryville on 8 Oct 162 and Stone’s River on 30 Dec 1862. Absent sick at Murfreesboro from 9 Mar 1863 to Apr 1864. Transferred to the Veterans Reserve Corps on 6 Apr 1864. Mustered out 5 Jul 1865 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Post war: Employed as a mill laborer in Menasha in 1870. Was living in Wisconsin in 1885. He died 5 Apr 1898 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, 2nd addition, lot 53. Widow Helen alive in 1905.
