Mustered 15 Nov 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin, as Corporal. Absent from company to guard a supply train traveling from Stevenson, Alabama, on 13 Oct 1863. Sick in Nashville, Tennessee, 26 Oct 1863. Mustered out with his company on 20 Dec 1864 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. Roll of Honor 14 Feb 1865. Post war: Married Johanna Ingebreksdatter Vange on 17 Mar 1870.
