Enlisted for three years on 22 Oct 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin, and mustered there on 16 Nov 1861. Private. Wounded in Battle of Stone’s River, Tennessee, on 31 Dec 1862 and sent to hospital in Nashville. Discharged from the service for disability, Louisville, Kentucky, 18 Sep 1863. Post war: He lived at Dawson, Minnesota. A veteran named Syvert A. Anderson, living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in February 1882 was granted a pension of $4 a month because of a gunshot wound to his left foot.
