WI 3rd Inf Co K. Residence: Christiania, Dane County, Wisconsin. Born in Ostre Toten, Norway. Civil War: Farmer. Age 26. Gray eyes, brown hair, light complexion, 5’7”. Enlisted for three years on 30 May 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Mustered 29 Jun 1861 at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Private. Re-enlisted as a Veteran 21 Dec 1863. Discharged from the service 21 Mar 1865 to accept a commission as Second Lieutenant in the WI 53rd Inf Co B. Mustered in May 12, 1865. On 10 Jun 1865 at Pleasant Hill, Missouri, he and his company were merged into the WI 51st. Promoted to Captain. Assigned to Co H. [Muster roll sheet is very difficult to read. Unsure of anything.] Post war: Died in Fingal, North Dakota, (before 1903).
