MN 2nd Cav Co G. Born in Norway 31 Aug 1845, at Hurum Annex, Valdres. Emigrated 7 Mar 1849 with his mother, Berit Olsdatter Egge, and step-father, Einar Halvorson Bonde. Civil War: Enlisted 7 Dec 1863 at Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota. Private. The 2nd Cavalry was assigned to pursue Indians through the Dakotas. They fought the Sioux at Killdeer Mountain, North Dakota. Bonde was wounded during this campaign. Discharged from the service at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, on 29 Dec 1865. Post war: Married Martina Amos Peterson on 19 Feb 1867 at Northfield, Minnesota. Eleven children. He died at age 86 at Oakland, California.
