Taken prisoner at Stone’s River, Tennessee, 31 Dec 1862, and was paroled at St. Louis, Missouri, in 1863. Served as an escort with the provision transport from Stevenson, Alabama, 13 Oct 1863. Seriously wounded in his right knee at New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864 and sent to hospital. “Took part in the bombardment of Island No. 10; in the battle of Perryville, Kentucky on 8 Oct 1862; in a skirmish near Lancaster, Kentucky, on 14 Oct 1862; in the Battle of Stone’s River 30 Dec 1831 where he was taken prisoner; in the Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia, 19 & 20 Sep 1863; in the siege of Dalton; in the Battle of Reseca, Georgia, 14 & 15 May 1864; in the battle of New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May, where he was shot through the left leg.” [Report signed by Lt.
