WI 15th Inf Co D. Residence: Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Born in Valders, Norway, about 1834. Civil War: Age 27. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 30 Oct 1861 at Oconomowoc, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, on 8 Dec 1861. Appointed Corporal 1 Jan 1862 and promoted to Sergeant on 2 May 1862. Promoted to First Sergeant on 1 Dec 1862. Seriously wounded at Stone’s River, Tennessee, on 31 Dec 1862 and sent to hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, and later to a camp at Dennison, Ohio. Mustered out with D Company at Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 13 Feb 1865. Commissioned Second Lieutenant 25 Feb 1867, with rank from 31 Aug 1864. Post war: In 1886, he was living in Decorah, Winneshiek County, Iowa. He was living there in 1893. He is buried at Decorah Lutheran Cemetery.
