He came to America with his parents and five siblings on “Dorothea”, which sailed from Bergen and reached New York 5 Jul 1848. They came to Dane County, Wisconsin, and then to Columbia County. Civil War: Private. Post war: Married on 14 May 1860 to Britha Olsdatter Erikson (1836-1924). They moved to a farm in High Lake Township, Emmet County, Iowa. Six children.
