Residence: Rock County, Wisconsin. Born in Nes, Buskerud, Norway on 7 Feb 1818 (or 14 Feb), a son of Helge Pedersen Børtnæs and Ragndi Tidemansdatter. He married on 16 Apr 1846 to Helge Olsdatter Lie. They came to America on board the “Elizabeth Bruce”, which sailed from Havre, France, and arrived in New York on 12 Aug 1846.
