Enlisted for three years on 22 Jan 1862 at Clermont and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 13 Feb 1862. Private. Was several times sick at various hospitals. Killed in action, a gunshot through his head, while on the skirmish line before Atlanta, Georgia, 2 Aug 1864. Buried in National Cemetery at Marietta, Georgia; section C, grave 718.
