Enlisted for three years on 11 Feb 1862 at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Mustered there on 28 Feb 1862. Enlisted and mustered as a Corporal. Took part in the battle of Shiloh, Tennessee, 7 Apr 1862. Wounded in action at Corinth, Mississippi, 3 Oct 1862. Discharged from the service 12 Nov 1862 at Madison, Wisconsin. Post war: Granted a pension of $2 a month because of a wound to his left forearm.
