IA 12th Inf Co G. Residence: Clarks Grove, Freeborn County, Minnesota. Born 31 Mar 1839 at Hadeland, Norway. Came to America in 1852. Civil War: Enlisted in October 1861 at age 22. Re-enlisted in 1863. Private. Fought at Fort Henry and Fort Donelson. Was captured by Rebel troops in the Battle of Shiloh, 6 Apr 1862. Was a prisoner of war at Macon, Georgia, and Libby. Liberated Nov 1862. Re-enlisted in 1863. Mustered out with his Regiment in Jan 1866. Post war: Married Anna Sophia Sigridson (Sigurdson). Eight children. Moved into Albert Lea, Minnesota, in 1899.
