WI 23rd Inf Co G. Residence: Wiota Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin. Born “Torger Ellevsen Gutterud” on 26 Aug 1846 at Sigdal, Buskerud, Norway, son of Ellev Jonsen Gutterud and Anne Torjusdatter. He came to America with his parents and a brother, Jon, on “Porsgrunn”, sailing from Porsgrunn and arriving in New York 7 Jul 1848. They came to Wiota Township. Civil War: Some time during his service, he transferred to the Wisconsin 3rd Infantry. Post war: On 28 Dec 1873, at Blanchardville, he married Mary Anna Maria Christena Larson (1858-1944).
