ERICKSON, Christian

IL 82nd Inf Co I. Residence: Chicago, Illinois. Born 7 May 1839 in Bergen, Norway; son of Erick and Bertha Christensen. Came to America in 1859. Civil War: Age 23. Enlisted in March 1862. Private. Promoted to orderly sergeant. After a military engagement in Virginia, he was made a Second Lieutenant. Following the battle of Chancellorsville, he was commissioned First Lieutenant. Following the battle of Gettysburg, he took command of his company. Shortly before he was discharged, he was made a Captain. Post war: He operated a dry goods business in Chicago.
