ERIXSON, Peter

WI 14th Inf Co I. Residence: Sterling, Vernon County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway. Civil War: Age 21. Farmer. Unmarried. Blue eyes, brown hair, light complexion, 5’5”. Enlisted for three years on 4 Jan 1864 at Black River Falls, Wisconsin. Enlistment credited to Albion, Jackson County. Mustered 26 Jan 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Was in the campaign around Atlanta, the battle of Nashville, and the pursuit of Hood’s army. He was in the siege of Fort Spanish and the campaign against Montgomery, Alabama. He was taken sick with chronic dysentery and died in the post hospital in Mobile, Alabama, on 12 Sep 1865. “Was always a good soldier.” Sources: (WHS red book vol 19, p166)
