MN 2nd Cav Co I. Residence: Winona, Winona County, Minnesota. Born 1844 in Norway. Came to America at age 13. Went to Meeker county, Minnesota. Civil War: Age 21 (or 16). Enrolled 8 Dec 1863. Mustered 4 Jan 1864. He enlisted as a private. Spent two years on the frontier fighting Indians. Discharged from the service with his company, 22 Nov 1865. Post war: Lived in Greenleaf, Minnesota.
