MN 9th Inf Co D. Residence: Traverse, Nicollet County, Minnesota. Born in Norway in 1833, son of Even Pedersen Gullord and Martha Hansdatter Daffinrud. Came to America 16 Jun 1849, and to Coon Prairie, 18 Nov 1849. Married in 1858 to Sophie Johnson. They had nine children. Civil War: Age 29. Enrolled 19 Aug 1862. Mustered 23 Sep 1862. Private. Fought in both Indian and Civil wars. Corporal. Promoted to Sergeant. Discharged from the service 16 Jun 1865 at St. Paul. Post war: Mathias lived in Coon Prairie; then went to St. Peter, Minnesota.
