He came to America on the “Statsraad Vogt”, which sailed from Bergen and reached New York on 8 Aug 1845. Married Eli Gulleiksdatter Kinne (1819-1857). Four children. Married again on 28 Dec 1857 to Randevei Olavsdatter Kinden. Twelve children. Civil War: Shoemaker. Age 40. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’7”. Enlisted for one year on 28 Aug 1864 at Wiota. Mustered 12 Sep 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin. Bounty $100. Private. Recruit. Mustered out 20 Jun 1865. Post war: Moved to Dows, Iowa. Took the name Fenne. Operated a grist mill. He died 18 Nov 1897 in Dows, Iowa, and was buried in Otis Grove Lutheran Cemetery in Dows.
