Born 25 Sep 1844 at Bamble, Telemark, son of Isak Hansen Findal and Ingeborg Maria Hansdatter. He came to America with his parents and four sisters on “Favorite”, which sailed from Kragerø, Telemark, on 26 May 1849 and arrived in New York on 31 Jul 1849. Worked as a seaman on the Great Lakes.
