Enlisted for three years on 17 Oct 1861 at Cambridge, Wisconsin, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin on 13 Feb 1862. Private. Assigned as Company Wagonmaster. Sick in Chattanooga, Tennessee, 28 Nov 1863. Seriously wounded in both legs at New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864, and sent to hospital. Mustered out with H Company 13 Feb 1865 at Chattanooga. Andrew, Ole and Stephen Fosse were brothers. Post war: He went to Kendall County, Illinois. Married on 26 Feb 1867 to Anna Askildson. Two children. Died 6 Jun 1881 in Lisbon Township, Kendall County, Illinois. Buried 9 Jun 1881 in West Lisbon Lutheran Churchyard.
