Enlisted for three years on 15 Aug 1862 at Vermont. Mustered 25 Oct 1862 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Bounty $100, $75 still due at muster out. Private. Regimental report of Oct 1863 lists him detached as teamster at Little Rock since 14 Sep 1863. Returned to regiment on 19 Nov 1863. Absent foraging on 31 Dec 1863. Detailed to Quartermaster Department on 18 Aug 1864. On 23 Sep 1864, he returned to Company H from detached service with the Quartermaster department. Left sick in a field hospital near Spanish Fort, Alabama, 9 Apr 1865. Moved to hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, 8 Jul 1865. Still there when his company was mustered out on 29 Aug 1865. Mustered out 1 Sep 1865 at Madison. Post war: Buried at Mt. Horeb, Vermont, Wisconsin.
