Enlisted 18 Sep 1861, commissioned Captain 10 Jan 1862 and mustered at Madison 14 Jan 1862. Detached from the Regiment, with his Company, at Mississippi River Island No. 10, on 11 Jun 1862. He was appointed Post Commander. Returned to Regiment in 1863, and led the Regiment for awhile. Was Regimental provost in 1864. Mustered out with Company G on 13 Jan 1865 at Chattanooga, Tennessee.
