Promoted to First Sergeant 20 Aug 1861. Became a private during regiment’s reorgnization in May 1862. Absent from Company E on special duty with the Regiment’s Commissary department from May until late 1862. Assigned to Regimental Staff as Acting Commissary and Subsistence Officer on 1 Jun 1863, and promoted to Captain that day. Captured at Rolling Fork, Mississippi, 23 Jun 1864.
