GRONDALE, Henry

US Army 103rd Depot Brigade, 1st Battalion, Co D. Born 7 Dec 1891 in Rasta, Norway, a son of Helmer Jensen Helmersen Grondalen and Anne Pedersdatter Nabben. Came to America in 1914 to Ray, North Dakota. First World War: Enlisted 29 Mar 1918. Assigned to 139th Inf Co D. Left for Europe 3 May 1918. Fought in several battles. Wounded by machine gun fire near Cheppy, France, on 28 Sep 1918. Returned to the USA 24 Apr 1919. Mustered out on 2 May 1919 at Camp Dodge, Iowa. Post war: Received his Purple Heart in 1970.
