He, his parents and six siblings came to America on “Norden”, which sailed from Stavanger and arrived in New York on 15 Jul 1846. Civil War: Farmer. Age 21. Unmarried. Blue eyes. light hair, fair complexion, 5’11”. Enlisted for three years on 10 Aug 1861 at Nettle Creek, Illinois. Mustered 20 Aug 1861 at Aurora, Illinois. Private. Re-enlisted as a Veteran on 1 Jan 1864 at Nashville, Tennessee. Mustered the same day at Cleveland, Tennessee. At this time he listed his residence as Newark, Kendall County, Illinois. Promoted to Sergeant. Mustered out on 8 Oct 1865 at New Orleans, Louisiana. Post war: Married to Flora Christian on 28 Oct 18??. He was married a second time, name unknown.
