WI 15th Inf Co A. Residence: Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Born “Johan Haldorsen Kvilekval”, in 1810 at Evanger, Voss, Norway. son of Haldor Johnsen Kvilekval and Brita Torbjørnsdatter Rasdalen. He was married on 21 Jun 1838 to Sigvor Knudsdatter Kvamme (1809-1849). They came to America with daughter Brita on “Mercurius”, which sailed from Bergen and arrived in New York on 8 Sep 1843. Another daughter, Johanna, was born on the voyage. They came to Chicago. He was married a second time to Ragnild Nelsdatter Glimme (1826-?). Civil War: Age 52. Married. Enlisted for three years on 16 Oct 1861 at Chicago. Mustered 18 Nov 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin, into Company D. Private. Transferred from Co D at Mississippi River Island No. 10, 3 May 1862, to Company A. Became unfit for service and was discharged from the service for sickness in Nashville 20 Dec 1862. Post war: Died Oct 1864. Buried Liberty Prairie Lutheran Cemetery.
