Enlisted for three years on 14 Aug 1862 at Christiania. Mustered 25 Oct 1862 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Private. Left sick at Helena, Arkansas, 13 Aug 1863. Discharged from the service from hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, on 13 Nov 1863; rejoined his regiment on 27 Nov 1863. Detailed to Quartermaster Department on 7 May 1864. On 5 Sep 1864, he was returned to H Company from detached service. On 5 Jun 1865, Private Lars M. Halvorsen “died at sea in the Gulf of Mexico on board the Clinton, from inflammation of the lungs”.
