HANSON, Hans P.

WI 52nd Inf Co D. Residence: Wisconsin. Born 16 Sep 1844 in Drammen, Norway, a son of Torger & Barbra Hansen. Came to America in 1851, with his parents; they settled in Adams County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Enlisted 11 Mar 1865 using the name Peter Hanson. Private. Drummer. Discharged 28 Jul 1865 at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. Post war: On 8 Oct 1871 he married Gjertine Johnson and they settled on a homestead in Elbow Lake Township, Grant County, Minnesota. Eight children. Served two terms as Sheriff of Grant County, and several terms as county commissioner. Moved to Fergus Falls, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, in 1903. Died 23 Aug 1931 at Fergus Falls, age 86, and was buried in West Elbow Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Grant County.
