WI 15th Inf Co C. Residence: Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Age 21. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 25 Feb 1862 at Madison and mustered there the same day. Private. Left behind at Springfield, Kentucky, 7 Oct 1862, because of illness. Was moved to a hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Was seriously wounded in Battle at Stone’s River, Tennessee, 30 Dec 1862 and sent to hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, and then to New Albany, Indiana. Taken prisoner in Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia, 19 Sep 1863. Died of either diarrhea or scurvy in Libby Prison, Richmond, Virginia, on 21 Jan 1864. Buried in Danville, Virginia, National Cemetery.
