WI 12th Inf Co C. Residence: Dodgeville, Iowa County, Wisconsin. Born “Ole Halvorsen Hove” on 18 Aug 1843 at Modum, Buskerud, Norway, son of Halvor Olsen Hove and Dorthe Andersdatter Bjølgerud. Came to America with his parents on “Tricolor”, which sailed from Christiania and arrived in New York on 30 Jul 1847. They came first to the Koshkonong settlement in Dane County, Wisconsin, and then to Iowa County. Civil War: Unmarried. Age 18. Farmer. Gray eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, 5’9”. Enlisted for three years on 15 Sep 1861 at Dodgeville. Mustered 18 Oct 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Discharged from the service 10 Jul 1862 at Madison. Post war: Lived at Eureka, Kansas.
