WI 15th Inf Co I. Residence: Iola, Waupaca County, Wisconsin. Born at Slemdal, Skien, Norway. Civil War: Age 22. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 20 Oct 1861 at Scandinavia, Wisconsin, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 20 Dec 1861. Sergeant. Sick in hospital at Madison 30 Oct 1862. Also sick on 7 Nov 1862 while home on leave. Discharged from the service for disease (chronic diarrhea) at Mississippi River Island No. 10 on 1 Oct 1863. Post war: Ingebretson in 1894 was living on his farm near Iola. A stone reading “P. Julius Engebretson 1838-1935” is in Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery, Section I Row 39, Scandinavia, Waupaca County.
