Enlisted for three years on 15 Aug 1862 at Perry. Mustered 25 Oct 1862 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Bounty $100, $75 still due at muster out. Designated Sergeant at 22 Oct 1862. Sick at Duval’s Bluff, Arkansas, 29 Aug 1863. On detached service in Wisconsin 13 Aug 1864. On 29 Oct 1864, Sergeant Isaacsen is shown as rejoining Company H from detached service in Wisconsin. Promoted to First Sergeant on 6 Jul 1865. Mustered out with company on 29 Aug 1865 at Brownsville, Texas. On 25 Sep 1865, he was given a commission as a Brevet (honorary) Second Lieutenant.
