Enlisted for three years on 31 Dec 1863 at La Crosse, Wisconsin, and mustered there the same day. Private. Went with the regiment to Vicksburg in March 1864. Was at Columbus, Kentucky. Marched with the regiment from Raleigh, North Carolina, through Virginia and into Washington DC. Mustered out with Company H at Louisville, Kentucky, 12 Jul 1865.
