Enlisted for three years on 6 Nov 1861 at Waterford, Wisconsin. Mustered 2 Dec 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Sergeant. Taken prisoner in Battle at Stone’s River, Tennessee, 31 Dec 1862. Exchanged on parole at St. Louis, Missouri; sent to Columbus, Ohio, still on parole. Sick in Annapolis, Maryland, 1 Jan 1863 and since 25 Sep 1863. Mustered out with Company, 1 Jan 1865, at Chattanooga, Tennessee. Bounty due then of $100. Post war: He moved to Iowa.
