WI 15th Inf Co K. Residence: Freeborn County, Minnesota. Born in Sogn, Norway, in 1818. Married to Kari Prfestegaard. Came to America in 1856. In 1860, they moved to Minnesota. Civil War: Age 40. Married. Enlisted for three years on 26 Nov 1861 in Freeborn County and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 11 Feb 1862. Private. Sick in Bardstown, Kentucky, in July 1862; in Nashville, Tennessee, in December 1862; and in Knoxville, Tennessee, in February 1864. Wounded at New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864. Sick in July 1864. Served three years and four months. Mustered out with K Company at Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 10 Feb 1865. Post war: Christopher Johnson of Albert Lea, Freeborn County, in February, 1882, was granted a pension of $2 a month because of injury to his right hand. Died in Freeborn County, in June, 1890. Buried in North Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery.
