Mustered 1 Sep 1862 at Camp Utley, Racine, Wisconsin. Private. Wounded. Discharged from the service 20 Mar 1865 at Madison, Wisconsin. Hovel Johnson of Gratiot, Lafayette county, was granted a pension of $14 a month because of a wound to his right hand and because of deafness in his right ear.
